Leek

Varieties that I've used so far; Musselburgh

When to sow; Hot Summer Warm Spring, Summer, Autumn Cool Spring, Summer, Autumn

Location; Sunny position

Sow; 12mm (1/2 inch) In seed tray and keep moist.  Transplant when seedlings are about 20cm high being careful with the roots.

Spacing; about 10-15cm apart, in rows 20-30cm apart.

Germination; 10-14 days

Harvest; About 12-14 weeks.

Tips; Best planted closer than further apart I think as they can take up to much space for the return that you get and love soil rich in organic matter.

What luck have I had; The flavour of home grown Leeks are hard to beat and if you have the room they are well worth it.
